Game Board

This project was pretty fun, and I had a good time creating it. We started by playing the games, and then we used pictures of them to draw a picture in two-point perspective. It was hard at points to make the drawing look realistic. After completing our drawing, we started to paint it with watercolors. I decided to use more paint, and I made the colors more solid and vibrant. When the paint was dry, we took out colored pencils and used them to add shadows and more texture. I think that is a pretty cool idea, and it added a lot to my game pieces. Overall, I'm happy with the way my game board turned out.

3D Anamorphosis

This project was really fun, but also really hard. We found pictures that we wanted to use to make 3D and went on photo shop  change the perspective of them. We used the transform tool to make the top of the picture wider than the bottom. We used a grid to scale the picture to the piece of paper we used. It was really hard to draw the picture using a grid. We had to create shadows to make the 3D illusion more realistic. We used colored pencils to color the pictures. I like how mine turned out, though it doesn't appear to be 3D, I think it's a good picture regardless.

Stencils

This is my stencil, the Mockingjay from The Hunger Games. I enjoyed this project very much; it was really fun carving the drawing out of the paper with an xacto knife and creating the stencil. We used photo shop to change the threshold and create positive and negative space. Doing this created contrast and made the picture black and white. Using the spray paint was a new experience, but I enjoyed it. I used pages from a book as a backround because the Mockingjay is from a book that I love. I love the colors I chose to spray paint with because the Mockingjay pin that the character in the book has is golden. Although this project was sometimes frustrating, I really enjoyed doing it.

Light Drawings

This project was really cool and fun. We set cameras up and made the capture time longer, so that it would be able to capture all the light that we showed. We used a stencil for the Statue of Liberty, but for everything else, I just used my phone. The first picture was an attempt at a flower...haha. The second is a heart. The third is HEF, my initials. the forth and fifth are stars and the sixth is the statue of liberty stencil. I had a lot of fun doing this project. My group was really fun to work with. We all had a good time trying to think of objects to portray, and seeing how they turned out.

Animal Prints

This project is really cool because we carved sketches onto linoleum and we made prints out of them. It's important to use textures while sketching so we can use the sketches as good reference while we're carving. When we printed, it was really cool to see our pieces in different colors and seeing all the textures. It was pretty difficult to carve into a rubbery sheet, but it was really fun. Although it took a lot of time, I enjoyed making important details. I'm happy with my work and love how it turned out!

Chalk Art

This was a really fun group project that turned out really well. I liked working in a group because it got a lot of different ideas and techniques into the art. Even though some of the team members weren't as committed to the project, my group worked together well, and we all incorporated our own ideas. Its very important, when you're working on a team, to be open to all of the team members' ideas and support them. That's something that our team did extremely well. We all worked together but also added our own personal ideas to the mural. I think this project was very successful! I really love the color contrast between the yellow and blue (Mr. Sands; idea) and the different shades of blue that add a lot of depth to the piece (Ms. Rossi's idea). I really like working with a group if everyone works together and focuses on the art. I think it would be really cool to do a whole class project where we all work together to create something amazing.

Value Portraits

I really enjoyed this project because it was really fun to actually draw a person.  The first thing we did was took pictures.  Then, we chose random faces and got a sheet on tracing paper.  We traced all the shapes we saw, and we tried to find different values.  Finally, we shaded the back of the tracing paper and went over all the lines so that it would be pressed onto the paper.  We found the different values by not looking at the picture as a face, but as a combination of shapes and shading.  I think I did a good job of creating all the values because I have a lot of lightness but also a lot of darkness; I wasn't afriad of the dark.  I think that this piece is probably the best work I've done so far in Art.  I'm very proud of it.  The only hard part about drawing Cole was figuring out how to shade, and looking at the actual picture instead of thinking about what a face looks like was also difficult.
