This was a really fun group project that turned out really well. I liked working in a group because it got a lot of different ideas and techniques into the art. Even though some of the team members weren't as committed to the project, my group worked together well, and we all incorporated our own ideas. Its very important, when you're working on a team, to be open to all of the team members' ideas and support them. That's something that our team did extremely well. We all worked together but also added our own personal ideas to the mural. I think this project was very successful! I really love the color contrast between the yellow and blue (Mr. Sands; idea) and the different shades of blue that add a lot of depth to the piece (Ms. Rossi's idea). I really like working with a group if everyone works together and focuses on the art. I think it would be really cool to do a whole class project where we all work together to create something amazing.

Value Portraits
I really enjoyed this project because it was really fun to actually draw a person. The first thing we did was took pictures. Then, we chose random faces and got a sheet on tracing paper. We traced all the shapes we saw, and we tried to find different values. Finally, we shaded the back of the tracing paper and went over all the lines so that it would be pressed onto the paper. We found the different values by not looking at the picture as a face, but as a combination of shapes and shading. I think I did a good job of creating all the values because I have a lot of lightness but also a lot of darkness; I wasn't afriad of the dark. I think that this piece is probably the best work I've done so far in Art. I'm very proud of it. The only hard part about drawing Cole was figuring out how to shade, and looking at the actual picture instead of thinking about what a face looks like was also difficult.

Chick
The first picture is my drawing of Chick on the first day of school... I know it's not the best...
But, the second picture is my drawing of Chick on the following Friday! Mr. Sands promised us that he would improve our drawing skills 743% by the end of the week. Look at the difference between these two pictures and tell me if he succeeded! I really liked drawing Chick because it was really cool to draw each individual rib and pay such close attention to every detail. I'm really happy with my second drawing; even though I ran out of time to finish her..

Contour Lines; Hands
These are drawings of my hands. I loved doing these pieces because it was a really fun project to get out of the habit of using stored symbols. It was pretty hard because you were'nt allowed to pick up your pencil or erase any mistakes, but it was really fun!

Shading
These pictures are of the shading work we did. The second picture is actually drawn on my world history notes; I get bored during class.. I really liked working on shading because I never really understood how it worked. Now that I'm figuring it out, I think my art work will improve a lot!
Moss Paint
This project was really cool! We painted on a wall with moss! It was kinda hard and pretty watery. I didn't know what to paint, so I just did my initials and a heart. I thought it was really cool how the heart is dripping; I really liked that. I can't wait to see if the moss grows!
Turtles
I was happy with the this piece , especially because one of the turtles was holding the other one down so it was way easier to draw!
For this project, I was happiest with my drawing of the pine cone and butterfly. The turtle drawings were pretty good in my opinion, but they probably could have been better.
If I was to do this project again, I would have payed more attention to detail with the Cupcake's shell and the butterfly's wings.
The most difficult part of this project was drawing live, moving animals, and drawing each spike of the pine cone, one by one.
From this piece, I learned a lot about looking at the object and not just using stored symbols.
Cheese
I really liked doing this project; I think it turned out good and I'm proud of it!
I think this piece is very successful because it looks like a real skeleton for cheese!
The ribcage and pelvis worked in this project, but I'm not sure the neck vertebrae did..
If I was to do this project again, I probably would have spent more time making the neck look more realistic.
The most difficult part about completing this project was probably deciding whether to make the skeleton look real, or cartoon-like.
From this piece, I learned to draw ribs more realistically which helped me with my last Chick drawing.
